He has been put on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
A Loughborough man has been jailed for seven years and one month for a large number of child sex offences.
Alan Glendinning, 51, was sentenced at Leicester Crown Court.
He committed the offences over a number of years, starting when his victim – who is now a teenager – was just nine years old.
Detective Constable Georgina White, from the force’s Child Abuse Investigation Unit, was the investigating officer, she said: “Glendinning took advantage of his young victim for his own sexual gratification.
“He has an obvious sexual interest in young children and he took away her innocence. He was able to manipulate her in such a way that he believed she wouldn’t have the confidence to speak out about what he was doing.
“I’m pleased he’s now serving time in prison for his crimes and I hope both the victim and her family are now able to move on with their lives.”
He has been put on the sex offenders register indefinitely and has an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
