Police are appealing for witnesses.
Detectives from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone with information to come forward following a fatal collision on the A511 last night (Monday 28 October).
Police were called to a stretch of the road at Sinope, close to the junction with Alton Hill, at 10.15pm.
A grey Hyundai i10 had collided with an orange KTM 125 Duke motorcycle. The car had left the carriageway following the collision.
The rider of the motorcycle, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman in her 40s who was driving the car was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
No arrests were made and enquiries into the incident are continuing.
PC Ellise Timmins, from the SCIU, said: “While several people stopped at the scene following the collision, I’m keen to speak to anyone who can help our investigation but who has not yet contacted police.
“I’d like to speak to any motorists who were travelling on the A511 between Coalville and Ashby last night and who saw what happened or either of the vehicles involved beforehand.
“I’m particularly keen to speak to anyone with a dashcam in their vehicle as any footage you have could assist us.”
