The Chemotherapy Suite Appeal raised more than £700,000 in donations from the local community.
More patients will be able to receive chemotherapy treatment as a newly refurbished suite has opened at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
The refurbished chemotherapy suite features modern amenities, new treatment equipment and six additional chairs that will help to provide 4000 more chemotherapy treatments a year.
Victoria Price was one of the first patients to receive treatment at the new facility, she said:“The new suite is lovely, today is my first treatment and I was very nervous, but I felt so reassured when I came in. The room is so nice, and the staff are so kind, it has made me feel really relaxed and at ease.”
The Chemotherapy Suite Appeal raised more than £700,000 in donations from the local community.
Richard Mitchell, Chief Executive Officer at Leicester’s Hospitals said: “This new suite will allow us to provide a more comfortable and dignified environment for people undergoing treatment. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who donated to this campaign. Your generosity is helping us to deliver high-quality care for our patients and communities and we are extremely grateful.”
The new suite will enable the hospital's team to provide hundreds of extra treatments to patients from across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland each month.
