''Both stretches of water present hidden dangers and are also cold and deep''

Due to the current hot weather Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council are asking residents to stay safe around open water.

It has been reported to the borough council that people have been swimming in the water at Hill Hole quarry in Markfield, as well as the Moat around Argents Mead in Hinckley.

Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, said: "We would be grateful if parents could speak with their children about the potential hazards involved in accessing the water at each site so that we can avoid any potential tragedies.

"Both stretches of water present hidden dangers and are also cold and deep. They are also fenced off for safety reasons and should not be accessed by anyone who does not have permission."

Warning signs have been placed around both sites advising people what to do if someone does get into danger and needs help.
