Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for drivers with dashcams to come forward.
At around 6.45 pm yesterday (Tuesday 31 May) emergency services were called to a stretch of the southbound motorway between junctions 22 and 21a, following a report a pedestrian had been struck by a heavy goods vehicle.
A man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detective Constable Kasie Carter, from the SCIU, said: “While we have spoken to a number of people already, I would ask anyone who saw the collision occur to come forward.
“I’m particularly keen to speak to any motorists with a dashcam in their vehicle or anyone who saw the man prior to the collision. Any information you have, no matter how insignificant you think it is, could help.”
Officers closed the road for several hours while enquiries were undertaken at the scene.
No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
