Police in Bedworth arrest woman after girl critically injured in fire

A 21-month old girl is in a critical but stable condition in hospital following a fire at a house in Cattell Way, Bedworth, yesterday (Sunday 20 October) afternoon.

Police attended, along with fire fighters and paramedics, after receiving a report at 2.18pm.

A woman in her 30s from Bedworth has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect and bailed until November while enquiries continue.

Detective Chief Inspector Tim Sharp from the Warwickshire Police Major Investigation Unit said: “We’ve launched a thorough investigation into the fire and our thoughts are with the injured girl and her family at this time.

“We’re appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time to get in touch, especially if they’ve got mobile phone or dash cam footage of the incident.”

Anyone with information that could help police with their ongoing investigation should call 101 quoting incident 217 of 20 October 2019. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
