Police will speak with the community and local businesses in and around the area over the coming days.
Charnwood Police officers have updated the community after an incident in Packe Street on Monday (31/03) which resulted in the surrounding area being cordoned off for a number of hours.
Just after midday the force received a report from a member of the public raising concerns about the behaviour of a man on the rooftop of a building, adjacent to some flats.
Due to the nature of the report and in the interest of public safety the police say it was necessary to cordon off the area to allow emergency services to assess and deal with the incident.
A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of Section 78 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE), intentionally or recklessly causing public nuisance. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Some people who were present are being treated as witnesses and are supporting with the investigation.
Charnwood Police, said: "We are aware that this incident has caused some alarm and we know that there is speculation about the nature of the report. We would like to reassure you that the action that was taken yesterday was necessary, given the nature of the report we received.
"We appreciate that this incident has had an impact on the local community and we will be in and around the area speaking with the community and local businesses over the coming days.
"We would like to thank the local community for their patience and support while we dealt with the incident and ongoing investigation."
