Charnwood Borough Council have invited local businesses and residents to a virtual meeting on the Bedford Square Gateway Project.
It's being held on Wednesday May 5 at 7pm so people can be updated on the progress of construction works and ask questions.
The project aims to regenerate the areas of Bedford Square, Ward’s End and Devonshire Square.
The council said footpaths will be widened and re-paved, 'to create a high-quality and attractive street scene which will showcase the area’s distinct character and heritage.'
The work will also mean the amount of paved areas for pedestrians will increase by a third, with a large open spaces to host events and markets in Devonshire Square planned.
Richard Bennett, head of planning and regeneration at the Council, said: “With our contractor Fitzgerald’s, we have already been communicating directly with local businesses and residents through letters, email updates and on site itself.
“This meeting builds upon that work to make sure we are informing people about the progress of the scheme and to engage with them so we can tackle any issues that arise as efficiently as possible.
“The scheme was always going to cause some disruption, but we want to work with local businesses and residents to mitigate that disruption. When the scheme is complete, the area is going to be far more attractive to visitors.”
