It happened Saturday afternoon just before 2 o'clock and involve a Can-Am Spyder three-wheel motorcycle.
The rider sustained serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire.
His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
The M1 southbound at junction 22 and the junction with the A46 was closed up to junction 21 but has since been re-opened.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or recorded any footage on their dashcams is asked to contact 101, quoting incident 299 of 8 February.
