One of the victims was just 15-years-old at the time.

Hannah Burton, 25, of Oxford Street, Shepshed, was sentenced to fifteen years at Leicester Crown Court on Friday 18 June.

Last December She pleaded guilty to two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, after the incident in South Wigston.

Detective Inspector Mark Parish is from the force’s Complex Investigation Team. He said: “This was a horrific incident where two people were left seriously injured in what is believed to be an unprovoked assault.

“They spent days being treated in hospital and I can imagine they were, and may still be, reliving the events of that night.

“We hope the victims can now begin to move forward with their lives and try to put the memory of that night behind them.”

Shortly before 12.30am on Wednesday 15 April 2020, officers were called to an address in Healey Street after a report that a woman and a teenage boy had been assaulted inside the property.

The victims had let Burton into their house after they believed she was in distress.

Once inside she stabbed the woman, 35, and a boy, 15, before fleeing the scene.

At around the same time as the first call a member of the public called police reporting a distressed woman trying to enter a house in nearby Garden Street.

Officers were deployed and Burton was immediately detained.

Inside the address in Healey Street officers and colleagues from the East Midlands Ambulance Service found the victims had suffered serious stab wounds. They were both taken to Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment and later discharged.

The occupant of Garden Street was not injured during the incident.
