Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a man was found injured in Hugglescote in the early hours of this morning (Friday 24 February).
Shortly after 2 am, Leicestershire police received a report that a woman was being attacked in a park off Ashburton Road.
Officers searched the area and found a man and a woman who were both unresponsive.
The man suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after 3 am.
A 23-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man were located by officers nearby, and were subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder.
A scene preservation is in place in the park, close to where the man and woman were found.
Detective Inspector Mark Parish, the senior investigating officer, said: “While two people have been arrested in connection with this incident, our investigation is very much in its early stages and I would like to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything in the park or in Ashburton Road.
“Did you see anyone going into the park? I’m particularly keen to speak to residents with CCTV or doorbell cameras at their property or anyone who happened to be driving in the area at the time.
“Any information you’re able to provide, no matter how insignificant you think it is, could help.”
