The homes were developed by Swithland Homes Ltd.
Charnwood Borough Council has acquired two homes in Sileby.
The newly built properties are two-bedroom bungalows and will be available for people on the council’s housing register to bid on through the Council’s website.
Cllr Colin Hamilton, the Council’s lead member for public and private sector housing said: “It is vital that more housing is made available to the public and I am pleased that the Council has managed to acquire these properties in Sileby.
“We fully recognise that more social and private sector housing is needed in the borough and this Council will do all it can to create homes for tenants and people who need affordable homes.
“It is important that we work with developers to ensure that affordable housing is provided for our residents and that local services are receiving funding when development takes place.”
The Council has taken ownership of them through a Section 106 agreement with the developer, Swithland Homes Ltd.
These agreements are put in place with the local authority and the developer to ensure that funding is made available for local services such as affordable housing, transport links and schools.
