The emergency road closure is due to a burst water main.
Leicestershire County Council Highways agreed to a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order for public safety.
It can continue for up to 21 days.
Severn Trent Water will now be able to repair a burst pipe.
A proposed alternative diversion route will be signed on site.
Access to properties will be maintained, however a short delay in gaining access may occur while the area is made safe.
Leicestershire County Council has apologised for any inconvenience caused during these works.
