Two-year-old boy killed in hit-and-run collision involving stolen Porsche

Police are appealing for the driver of a Porsche who fled after a two-year-old boy was killed in a car crash to hand themselves in.

A woman aged 29 and a 30-year-old man are in a serious condition following the incident in Smethwick near Birmingham just before 11pm on Saturday, West Midlands Police said.

Another man and woman aged 30 are in a stable condition.

The force believes the grey Porsche Cayenne was travelling from the island on Kenrick Way before it hit a Toyota on Dartmouth Road.

Checks on the Porsche revealed it was stolen earlier this month.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Our thoughts remain with the family of the little boy at this extremely difficult time.

"I would urge the driver of the Porsche to do the right thing and come and talk to us. They made the wrong decision to run away and I'm asking them now to make the right one.

"I also want to appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn't already spoken to us, or has CCTV or dash-cam footage to get in touch."

Dartmouth Road was closed in both directions while specialist reconstruction staff examined the scene. It has now reopened.
